What is the Student Services and
 
Information Department?

The Student Services Department is People who:
  • Facilitate outreach to members of the community and other agencies; meet to discuss issues and offer training during quarterly meetings and biennial Children's Summits;
  • Offer dropout prevention resources and support in the schools and the community;
  • Coordinate opportunities for students to envision the future during annual career fairs, virtual job shadowing, risk prevention groups, and service projects; 
  • Provide support for school success through counseling and social services;
  • Monitor attendance and work with the Department of Social Services and the courts on adherence to compulsory attendance laws.

What is the Student Services Department?
Staff of the Student Services and Grants Department:

  • School Guidance Counselors
  • Attendance Counselors/Truancy Officers
  • Dropout Prevention and Safe Schools Coordinator
  • Risk Prevention Case Workers
  • Juvenile Crime Prevention and Governors' Crime Prevention Case Workers
  • Directors of Family Resource Centers
  • Director of the 21st Century Community Learning Centers
  • Tobacco Use Prevention
  • Adolescent Parenting 
Services of the Student Services and Grants Department:
  • Collaborative Truancy Meetings Twice a Month with school system administrators, attendance counselors, Child and Family Support Team members, Circuit Court Judges, court counselors, and the Department of Social Services social workers and facilitators
  • Dropout Prevention and College Access activities
  • Attendance monitoring in the schools and regular contact with parents
  • Collaborative Student Services Meetings Quarterly with the Partnership for Children and Families and the Mental Health Collaborative to ensure seamless services in the community for our students and families.
  • Counselor support services in the schools
  • WhyTry support group sessions
  • Crime prevention initiatives
  • Families and Schools Together and Circle of Parents self-help programs for families
  • After school academic support and enrichment
  • Safe Schools plans and procedures
  • Support for teen parents
